I’m Iryna, originally from Ukraine, but now Cambridge is where I call home. Photography has always been my way of seeing the world, my way of speaking without words. It became my lens and my language — the way I could express myself. I never really set out to be a photographer, but somehow, the camera found me, and in that moment, I found my voice.
There’s something deeply powerful about capturing a moment. After my first year in photography, I felt this intense pull to create something that meant more. That’s when "Portraits of Her" was born. I started photographing women not just as subjects, but as stories waiting to be told. I wanted to capture strength — not the kind that’s talked about in books, but the quiet, powerful resilience that’s in every woman. Whether it’s in a glance, the curve of a smile, or the way she carries herself, there’s such beauty in that power, and I want to make sure it’s seen.
Each woman I photograph brings her own story. I’ve met so many incredible people through this journey, and every single one has left an imprint on me. They aren’t just subjects to me; they are my inspiration, my collaborators, my muses. Through "Portraits of Her", I don’t just want to create art — I want to create a space where these women can truly be seen in all their complexity. Their strength, their joy, their vulnerability. It’s all part of what makes them who they are, and it’s such a privilege to capture that.
While photography is one of my biggest passions, I’m also deeply invested in supporting the community that has become my home.
Cambridge is filled with hardworking individuals who are dedicated to creating something meaningful, and I try to do my part by supporting local businesses. Whether through collaboration, promotion, or simply spreading the word, I believe in the power of community and want to contribute to its growth and success.
One way I give back is by using my photography to help local businesses shine. Whether it’s capturing the cozy atmosphere of a café, the intricate craftsmanship of an artisan, or the vibrant energy of a local shop, I aim to tell a story that goes beyond just a product. Photography has the power to reveal the heart of a business, the people behind it, and the unique qualities that make it stand out. A strong visual identity can help businesses connect more deeply with their customers, turning a brand into an experience. I’m proud to collaborate with local entrepreneurs, helping them showcase their work in a way that draws people in and keeps them coming back.
Being an artist, a creator, and a supporter of my local community gives me purpose. It drives me to keep pushing my limits, to keep exploring new ways to tell stories and celebrate the people around me. I’m passionate about the work I do, but even more passionate about the connections it creates. Life is all about the stories we share, and through my work, I hope to continue telling stories that matter — stories of women, stories of strength, stories of us all.
